wayman29 ::: Favorites Thanks for commenting. I am finding that many people have great information here. If you have any books or writers you like on the topic feel free to PM me! 07-04-19 01:27:23 _____________________________________________________
Irenaeus1 ::: Favorites The idea of an orthodoxy is an anachronism until 325 AD. The proto-orthodox view ultimately resulting in the Nicene Creed came to power as much due to its system of apostolic succession securing compliance and "orthodoxy" as the strength of its beliefs. For a false view of the diverse beliefs, Acts and Eusebius' Ecclesiatical History whitewash the controversy and marginalize of contrary thoughts. This whitewash continues to be effective 1700 years later. GREAT JOB, Wayman29 07-04-18 22:30:17 _____________________________________________________

wayman29 ::: Favorites Thanks, I am trying to work through this rather slowly because there are so many angles. I have not even heard of some of the angles you discuss so I will be looking in to that side of things. If you have a pile of book references or links feel free to PM me. I am still looking over what you sent in before. Your comments are most helpful! 07-04-17 08:28:08 _____________________________________________________
smadewell ::: Favorites I applaud your efforts in getting back to early Christianity, which is something few Christians want to spend time doing, but I would encourage you to set aside any Christian and/or Gnostic bias and examine the culture of the main players in Yeshua's Kingdom/Repentance Movement and their Jewish POV and the origins of the religio-ideological "cold war" between the plebeian (Galilean) School of Hillel and the patrician (Judean) School of Shammai -- as well as the origins of proto-Gnosticism. 07-04-17 00:27:27 _____________________________________________________

wayman29 ::: Favorites Hey nice views here! Thanks for the comments I'll have to take a look at some of these ideas. 07-04-16 11:30:42 _____________________________________________________
smadewell ::: Favorites Schmithals makes a case that the Galatian opponents weren't "Judaizers" but rather proto-Gnostics. Paul own corrective epistles were used & twisted by these & other proto-Gnostics; hence, his bad rep with the Ebionites. Paul wasn't antinomian. Paul didn't have a falling out with Peter or James. Peter was at Antioch prior to Acts 15 & the circumcision issue was brought up by spies from the Pharisaic School of Shammai. The ruling in Acts 15 went according to the Pharisaic School of Hillel. 07-04-16 08:12:21 _____________________________________________________ |
