Description:

Hello on this Tuesday, November 6, 2007. I'm Kristin Volk with a UPI Headline Update. A new poll out shows that a majority of Americans consider waterboarding a form of torture. But some say it's ok for the U.S. government to use the technique. Nearly 70 percent say waterboarding is torture, and 40 percent believe the government should be allowed to use the procedure. The practice has recently been in the spotlight as attorney general nominee Michael Mukasey has refused to reject the practice. Meanwhile in Washington yesterday, anti-torture activists called for a Senate Committee to reject Mukasey by giving a live demonstration of waterboarding. During the procedure, water is used on restrained prisoners to make them feel like they're drowning. About 25 protesters participated in the demonstration. A Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to vote today on whether Mukasey should be confirmed to lead the Justice Department. Pakistan's judicial system is in lockdown three days after President Pervez Musharraf suspended the constitution and declared a state of emergency. One in four lawyers is reportedly jailed and judges are detained in their homes, surrounded by soldiers. No courts are operating so there's no way they can seek release. The U.S. and Britain have put strong pressure on Musharraf to restore civilian rule, but so far he's reportedly been unresponsive and unapologetic. Google is teaming up the wireless industry to develop a new system for mobile phones. The company plans to offer a free software program that would make it easier to surf the web on wireless devices and allow them to work more like computers. The software is expected to be available to developers next week. The system will be offered to customers in the second half of next year. Analysts say Google's plan could mean enormous change for the mobile industry.

Water boarding is a definite form of torture. Bush and the Supreme Court should try being water boarded for sure. And if they still think that it should be used, then they are pure dumbasses

How about George Bush and the Supreme Court justices try water boarding themselves to see if it's torture.
