Mureke ::: Favorites 2007-07-31 07:14:29 The trees here in Finland are so much thinner than yours. Also, we don't have all that many old forests, so old trees are few and between. I don't like chainsaws, either. :) __________________________________________________
FrozenCarnitas ::: Favorites 2007-07-31 12:29:33 I took that trail not long ago, from the saddle between Waterman and Twin Peaks. I guess there aren't any downed trees on that part. BTW, you wouldn't happen to know the state of the ooooooooold trail going up Bighorn Ridge to Baldy, would ya? It's apparently the original route to the summit, from the late 1800's. __________________________________________________
NotSoOldHippy ::: Favorites 2007-07-31 15:18:28 "The trees here in Finland are so much thinner than yours." We get oaks and pines growing in our ecology up there and they both do very well. Does Finland import all of the lumber that it needs? "I don't like chainsaws, either. :)" Oh man, if the chainsaw isn't loud enough, the yelling and cussing trying to get the thing to run and keep running can be just as loud. (Hello, Mike!) LOL! __________________________________________________
NotSoOldHippy ::: Favorites 2007-07-31 15:20:16 "BTW, you wouldn't happen to know the state of the ooooooooold trail going up Bighorn Ridge to Baldy, would ya?" Surprizingly, I think I do, yes. Someone named Dave or David flys fixed wing aircraft and helicopters -- I can never remember his last name. He lives in the area and he borrowed a tractor and regraded that trail, the last I heard. No gurantees, though. I may be thinking about a different trail but I think it's the same one. __________________________________________________
FrozenCarnitas ::: Favorites 2007-07-31 19:48:20 Must be a different trail. This one gives you about 8500ft elevation gain. __________________________________________________
Mureke ::: Favorites 2007-08-01 04:23:55 Finnish forest industry is the most efficient in the world. By efficient I mean that the industry produces a lot of lumber. Protected forests are small and very few. Our oaks were already cut down for ship building and today the pines are not allowed to grow old. Finland exports the vast majority of its forests, which is insane. I would never be annoyed by other people in the wilderness if I never had to hear the chainsaw. __________________________________________________
HSLLC ::: Favorites 2007-08-17 19:57:24 what a bunch of fucking idiots. Use a chain saw it would have been done and over with 5 hours ago. Freakin AMAZING __________________________________________________
NotSoOldHippy ::: Favorites 2007-08-17 20:50:40 "what a bunch of fucking idiots. Use a chain saw it would have been done and over with 5 hours ago. Freakin AMAZING" Well, we were in a designated wilderness which has prohibitions against using gasoline powered tools -- and a lot of other things. Besides, we wanted to all be very manly. }:-} __________________________________________________
mobiltec ::: Favorites 2007-09-13 18:06:12 How do you do this without beer? __________________________________________________
AngryNotSoOldHippy ::: Favorites 2007-09-13 18:48:52 "How do you do this without beer?" You know, I'm not sure. I think that when we were done for the first day, we were starting to hallucinate effectively without it. BTW: I removed a bunch of videos, trying to clean up this my friendly channel. __________________________________________________ |
