Description:

We will not walk in fear, one of another. We will not be driven by fear into an age of unreason if we dig deep in our history and remember we are not descended from fearful men ... who feared ... to defend causes which were unpopular .... The actions of the junior senator from Wisconsin have caused alarm and dismay ... and whose fault is that? Not really his; he didn't create this situation of fear; he merely exploited it, and rather successfully. Cassius was right, "The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves."

I agree that Keith Olbermann is nowhere close to the level of Edward Murrow. That being said, he is far closer than any other journalist around these days (which is not to say he hasn't said some things that have troubled me from time to time).

O'Reilly has not ended careers, but he isn't much better. I saw something about him sending "Fox Security" to a guys home after the guy said "Keith Olbermann" on his show. Putting aside the question of whether what someone said was actually obscene, I don't think that a someone who threatens to call security on you for something you say is all that reputable, and is a danger to free speech.

bobble, It is Keith Obermann who misuses th name of Murrow to lend himself credibility. Listen to this video and then to one of Keith's. Travesty.

Fox News would never hire him. He refused to be pushed around by the likes of McCarthy and surely Bill O "Reilly wouldnt stand a chance against him.

I am impressed with him, but what I came away with was different. I don't believe O'Reilly is the power or danger that McCarthy was. McCarthy ended people's careers with just a verbal accusation. I believe he would have spoken against Obermann and O' Reilly. I believe he would ahve been appalled at the lack of respect.
