Description:

Critics will also grumble about Murali's good fortune at playing Bangladesh and Zimbabwe so regularly. Indeed, it is true that approximately 25% of his victims have come from these two minnows. But Murali would also have enjoyed Warne's volume of matches against England, a team against whom he has been equally prolific. In any case, his 26 wickets in this series is now par for the course considering the fact that he raced from 600 to 700 in just 12 matches: an average haul of 8.33 wickets per Test against opposition that includes Pakistan (2 Tests), England (3 Tests), South Africa (2 Tests), New Zealand (2 Tests) and Bangladesh (3 Tests). His wicket-taking was no more prolific against Bangladesh than it was against the rest. - Charlie Austin, Cricinfo

If Wisden is the Bible of Cricket that then must be gospel, eh? Mate its all a matter of personal preferances but a players record when he/she retires usually judges how good the player was in comparison to players before him who retired. That then gives you the best of all time.

Muttiah Muralitharan has been revealed as the top Test bowler in history, ranking alongside top batsman Don Bradman, according to cricket bible Wisden. Muralitharan has 437 Test wickets Wisden's statistical analysis of every single Test match put the Sri Lankan three places ahead of his Australian spin rival Shane Warne.

Look, there's no such thing as the "best bowler ever" - but if that's the way you have to view the world it's your loss. If Jim Laker played as many games he'd have as many, if not more wickets. Same for many other bowlers. Why the need for petty tags? Just enjoy his talent and skill. I do. Anything else is just speculative, biased and flawed. Peace.

No bowler in history has claimed 10 wicket hauls against every playing nation. He hasn't half finished his career, he's only played 130 test if im not mistaken. Lomg way to go and when he reaches the 1000 wicket mark that would be enough for even Wisden to give him the recognition he deserve. Current ICC ratings stand him as the greatest bowler ever.

Bradman is an exception. If you want stats, there are bowlers with better averages and strike rates than Murali. Malcolm Marshall is a better bowler, as is Garner, Ambrose, Barnes and McGrath if you go by stats alone. There's no standout bowler in cricket history. Bradman aside, there's no standout batsman either. Just many great bowlers, of which Murali is one. He's definitely Sri Lanka's best ever bowler - I'll go that far.

Yes there may be such a thing, How is Bradman rated as the Greatest batsman of all time? Stats right? When murali ends his career let the stats do the talking and the rest can keep walking.

He's not the greatest bowler of all time - there's no such thing. He's a magnificent bowler, one of the very best. Just leave it at that.

So youre equating england to bangladesh and zimbabwe? Murali is an all time great though and imo i cant decide between him and warne but maybe warne just coz i love to watch the art of leg spin and how he regenerated it.
